More on Microwaves

m w oven:

Yes more!!

Apart from asafetida, this subject ranks second in my personal correspondence 'hot topics'.

Radhanuga from Hillsborough, North Carolina, USA, wrote yesterday and asked:

"I was just reading the question and your answer about re-heating food in microwave oven from your back-blogs. Does that apply to plastic containers that specifically say 'for microwave oven' or 'safe to microwave'?

My reply:

Dear Radhanuga,

Well, those containers are safe, apparently, for using to reheat in a microwave oven. In other words, they will apparently not melt or leach toxins into the food.

But the food itself is still being microwaved, with all its nasty concomitant side-effects on the human organism. Do we believe the producers of microwaves when they say that food is fine when microwaved? I certainly do not.

Why don't they tell us that microwave exposure causes significant decreases in the nutritive value of all foods? Why indeed? They have a lot to lose, of course.

For much more about this subject, go to the SEARCH box at the top right of this page and key in the word 'microwave'. A big subject!
