I'm off today to Perth's posh beachside suburb of Cottesloe, home of Amano, a kitchenware establishment in Station Street that doubles as a cookery school. I've been teaching there for years, and always enjoy the challenge. Bev Sprague, the proprietor and inspiration behind the place always pushes me beyond my comfort zone, gently suggesting new and interesting topics for my classes.
The theme of today's 2-hour evening class is grains - the mainstay of an interesting vegetarian lifestyle - and is entitled 'Healthy Feasting. Bev chose the topic, I chose the content:
Masoor Dal with Potatoes, served with Turkish Bread
Mauritian-style Dal Rissoles (Gateaux-Piments) with Home-style Tomato Chutney
Saudi Baharat-scented Chickpeas with Spinach (Hoummos bi Sabanik)
Punjabi Red Bean Curry (Rajma) (pictured above)
served with Basmati rice
Pakistani-style Creamy Vermicelli Dessert (Kheer Sevian) (pictured below)
More news as it comes to hand.
