Drove with my old friend Trevor and my son Nitai on an early morning expedition to pick up 200 litres of fresh milk from a dairy farm near Byford in Perth's Serpentine District, a one-hour drive from home.

Nitai went off to say good morning to the mothers.

The ladies had just been milked. Trevor hooked up to the giant vat of milk and started filling our spotlessly clean buckets.

Nitai had a last frolic with the calves before we drove back home.

Went home and made a big batch of panir cheese with 20 litres of the milk.

Then I made some fabulous curd steaks.

Let me know if you'd like the recipe for the curd steaks.
