Yesterday was the first serious kitchen day of my European tour. I spent a day advising and cooking in the second Dublin restaurant of the Govinda's chain, Radha Govinda's, in Middle Abbey Street.
Here I am, ever the stirrer, feeling at ease with my giant paddle and up to my neck in a steaming 45 litres of succulent panir in spicy tomato sauce. Gosh, this stuff's practically a national dish.

Took a picturesque journey to and from work on The Dart - Dublin's new Light Rail. I snapped this shot of a rare sight in Dublin - a hot, sunny day! There's still heatwave conditions, with people flocking to the beaches. This beach falls south of the city, between Killiney and Dalkey, two stations before where I get off.

I am having fun, working hard, and trying to share something with others for their benefit. Life could be far worse.
"This is the true joy in life, of being used for a purpose recognized by
yourself as a mighty one; of being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown
on the scrap heap." - George Bernard Shaw
By the way, if you've just tuned in to this virtual diary of mine and you're finding it gripping reading (!) remember that it started on June 2. There's only enough space for 10 days entries at a time on this side of the page. To read old stuff, go to the calendar on the right and click the dates you want. It's a good read.
