Maharaja will he holding a talk at Urban Yoga on Wednesday 28th July, specifically targeted at a young and inquisitive audience; mostly students and God-seekers who are taking their initial steps on the path of spirituality. The fee of $8 will include our famous vegetarian feast.

Veda Vyasa Priya Maharaja Accepts Disciples

On Sunday morning - Krishna astami - Veda Vyasa Priya Maharaja accepted three new disciples: Vrindavan Chandra dasa from Canberra (white chaddar), Jad Bharata dasa (yellow chaddar), and Sri Radha-Ballabha dasa (orange chaddar).

May they realise the depth of their Guru Maharaja's mercy by sharing his instructions with other suffering conditioned souls.

Prabhavisnu Maharaja (left) arrived yesterday and will be giving morning classes until Friday (May 8th.).

Next week, Veda Vyasa Priya Maharaja (below) will be giving Bhagavatam classes from Wednesday (May 13th.) till Sunday (May 17th.).

Autumn is here, and - in the weeks of March - the Mandir will host a series of travelling preachers:

Bhakti Visrambha Madhava Maharaja arrived yesterday and stays with us until Thursday the 12th.

Bhanu Maharaja arrives tomorrow and also stays until the 12th.

Ramai Maharaja will arrive on Saturday the 14th. to stay until Friday the 20th.

Devamrita Maharaja is scheduled to return on Wednesday the 18th. to prepare for a weekend farm retreat at Hare Krishna Valley, and then leave on Sunday the 22nd.

As Maharaja Yudhisthira said to his Uncle Vidura: '....devotees...are truly holy places personified. Because you carry the Personality of Godhead within your heart, you turn all places into places of pilgrimage.' (Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.13.10)

Prahladananda Maharaja Visits Melbourne

Prahladananda Maharaja visits Melbourne from Friday January 30th. till Friday February 6th. He will give Bhagavatam classes each morning.

Prahladananda Swami has been a practitioner and teacher of yoga, Ayurveda and self-realisation for thirty seven years. Maharaja will lead a Yoga and Ayurvedic Retreat at Hare Krishna Valley on Saturday January 31st. and Sunday February 1st. This is an introduction to spiritual life especially meant for people unfamiliar with Krishna consciousness. Please direct anyone you know who may be interested to Vraja Nari dasi (0424-441-534).

It's great to be working in the Melbourne temple. There is always something to do. December is a busy time. Many of us are distributing books and there are five major catering events plus the odd retreat or two.

We also attract more visiting preachers at this time of the year since the weather is usually much better in the southern hemisphere.

Here's a list of visitors for the next month or so.

Devamrita Swami arrives tomorrow and will speak at a retreat at Hare Krishna Valley this weekend. He'll give morning Bhagavatam class at least on Thursday and Friday and possibly Monday next week.
Bhanu Swami arrives on the 23rd. He'll be here for Snana Yatra and departs on the 2nd of January.
Bhaktisiddhanta Swami will be here for Snana Yatra but I don't have exact dates. He'll be helping with the Maha-prasadam auction on Snana Yatra day.
Bhakti Visrambha Madhava Swami will arrive on the fifth and leaves on the eighth of January.
Indradyumna Swami and his travelling tour arrive on the 12th and depart on the 29th. There will be four shows plus hari-nama and temple programs. The full schedule is to be finalised.
Prahladananda Swami arrives on the 30th January till the 6th of February. He'll be heading up a Yoga Retreat at Hare Krishna Valley on the weekend of the first and the second.

Vedavyasa-priya Swami visit in September

Last night he gave an exciting class based on Bhagavad-gita ChapterTwo. The discussion was full of stories that instantly relate our experience of life today with the heart of Krishna's instruction, 'Just surrender unto Me... do not fear.'

After enlivening this morning's Mangal-arati kirtan with his heart felt prayers, Maharaja - together with BV Madhava Swami - began our celebration of Lord Nityananda's Appearance Day with a marathon kirtan. The two then gave a nectar-filled morning class, glorifying Lord Nityananda's merciful nature as the first incarnation of servitor-Godhead.

Maharaja flew out this morning - to visit other Australian temples before returning to give a weekend retreat at New Nandagram farm at the end of the month.

Madhava Maharaja led a special Harinam-kirtan in the city this afternoon, and will stay until Monday. Look forward to some devotion-filled bhajans!

Indradyumna Swami visit for Le Carnaval Spirituel

His Holiness Indradyumna Swami will be visiting Melbourne Temple from December 18th to December 25th. While His Holiness is in Melbourne there will be daily morning Srimad-Bhagavatam classes at Melbourne temple and Hari Nama Kirtana on the streets of Melbourne.

There will also be a not-to-be-missed spiritual carnival held on the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd of December at the Melbourne Town Hall. The production of "Le Carnaval Spirituel" is a joyous, colourful and intriguing tapestry of theatre, dance, music and song, yoga, martial arts and meditation which brings forth the timeless spiritual wisdom of ancient India's Vedic culture. Tickets are reasonably priced and available through Melbourne Temple or Ticketek.

A lot of time, energy and expense has been put into this festival, please take full advantage of this rare event.

I've heard that the annual retreat led by Bhurijana Prabhu and Mother Jagattarini is completely booked out without any advertising. They will be here on the evening of the 26th of April but will go straight to Winchelsea to prepare the next day for the beginning of the retreat which starts on the 27th evening at New Nandagram. They will be staying in Melbourne till the 15th of May. There are home programs being arranged on the two extra weekends but details are yet to be finalised. Stay tuned for more information.

Bhakti Caru Swami arrives on Saturday 14th morning direct from LA. That's a fifteen and a half hour flight. He will speak at the Saturday evening student's program arranged by Nityananda Priya and a house program at Bishwajit Rath's on Sunday afternoon. We expect he will also give the Sunday Feast class and morning Bhagavatam classes whilst here. He departs on Wednesday.

Bhanu Swami arrived yesterday and will be in Melbourne till the eighth. Kurma Prabhu and Srutakirti Prabhu arrived today. Srutakirti will be giving classes on his pastimes with Srila Prabhupada for the next three days. He will also be signing copies of his new book What is the Difficulty. Travelling Preachers

Ramai Swami leaves Melbourne tomorrow morning after almost a fortnight's stay. Devamrta Swami arrived in Melbourne on Friday night and spent the weekend at New Nandagram with 120 young spiritual seekers. He will be with us till the seventh. Bhanu Swami arrives on Monday evening and should be with us for at least a week, if not slightly longer. We have quite a line up of visitors over the next two months. My aim is to have a list prepared and posted this week.

As you can see I have arrived back in Melbourne and should get the news posts flowing again. Travel, sadhana and engagements in India kept me extremely busy so a few things had to give. One of them was my regular blogging. I should be able to get back into the swing of things now I have my feet back on the ground.

Vedavyasa-priya Swami's visit

Vedavyasa-priya Maharaja arrives in Melbourne today for a week long visit. He'll be giving morning Bhagavatam classes except for Wednesday and one evening class on Wednesday evening at 7.30 pm.

On the weekend he will be conducting a workshop in the theatre titled Ideal Grhastha Life. The weekend sessions are Saturday 10.30 am - 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm - 4.30 pm and Sunday 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm.

His Holiness Prabhavisnu Swami arrives tomorrow for a five day visit. He'll be giving classes in the morning and I suspect leading the odd lively kirtana or two after greeting the Deities. We'll be preparing for our national annual general meeting which is to be held at Otford later this month. I'll be driving up to Sydney on Sunday week for the occasion.

Janananda Prabhu also rang yesterday to arrange a short visit at the end of May. He arrives on the 26th and will leave on the 30th.

The back entrance of the Zoo can be reached by Tram 55 & Trains stopping at Royal Park Station, main entrance by Tram 68.

The Week Ahead

We've got a hectic week ahead of us at the temple. Prabhavisnu Swami leaves tomorrow. Bhakti Visrambha Madhava Maharaja arrives on Tuesday and Devamrta Swami is here on Wednesday.

The Port Phillip Tsunami interfaith service will be held on Wednesday. The week finishes with the Big Day Out and a wedding on Sunday preceded by a catering job on Saturday. Give me a yell if you've got nothing to do and some time to kill.

Indradyumna Swami left this morning; early this morning. I told him he would be sitting at the airport twiddling his thumbs and that's what happened. He called to thank us for looking after him so nicely and he hopes to return soon.

He mentioned how much things had changed and he was impressed by the devotees' mood.

As always we were inspired by his classes and kirtanas.

Indradyumna Swami

Indradyumna Swami arrives early Sunday morning. We'll be having a midday program at Bhakta's house in Rowville and he'll be back in time for the Sunday Feast program at the temple. Maharaja also has some DVD's of this year's Polish Tour and Woodstock festival which we will screen in the theatre after the 7.00 pm arati.

I've suggested to Maharaja that we stick to a simple morning and evening program. That way most devotees can attend a class in the evening at the temple.

We might do a couple of downtown lunchtime hari-nama's depending on how many we can arrange to attend. If there are any householders on holidays next week who can participate then please let me know so we can make a decision whether to go or not.
