Vedavyasa-priya Swami will be visiting Melbourne from the 16th till the 22nd of September. He will be visiting various Bhakti-vrksa groups in the evenings and giving class at the temple in the mornings. The second seminar that Urmila Mataji gave is of relevance to devotees who are raising a family, or who plan to do so. You may remember the series of seminars that Urmila Mataji gave on her visit here back in March. Here is the first one- Transmitting Culture. Better late than never...It is all about the ways that culture gets transmitted, whether it be Vedic culture or demoniac culture. Kadamba Kanana Swami flew into Melbourne from India early yesterdaymorning. Last night he gave an exciting class based on Bhagavad-gita ChapterTwo. The discussion was full of stories that instantly relate our experience of life today with the heart of Krishna's instruction, 'Just surrender unto Me... do not fear.' After enlivening this morning's Mangal-arati kirtan with his heart felt prayers, Maharaja - together with BV Madhava Swami - began our celebration of Lord Nityananda's Appearance Day with a marathon kirtan. The two then gave a nectar-filled morning class, glorifying Lord Nityananda's merciful nature as the first incarnation of servitor-Godhead. Maharaja flew out this morning - to visit other Australian temples before returning to give a weekend retreat at New Nandagram farm at the end of the month. Madhava Maharaja led a special Harinam-kirtan in the city this afternoon, and will stay until Monday. Look forward to some devotion-filled bhajans! Bhakti Visvambhara Madhava Swami will visit Melbourne for one week from Monday February 18. That means Maharaja will celebrate Nityananda Trayodasi with us on Tuesday. Come and join us if you are able! Kadamba Kanana Swami will be in Melbourne during the last week of February. He'll be holding a retreat at New Nandagram on the last weekend of the month. To register please contact Kesava Prabhu on 0405 577 453 or keshava.tkg@pamho.net. Along with Prahladananda Swami we are also expecting visits from Prabhavisnu Swami and Janananda Goswami in January and February. Prabhavisnu Swami arrives on the 14th of January and leaves for Sydney on the 18th. Janananda Goswami arrives on the 5th of February and departs on the tenth for Hobart. His Holiness Indradyumna Swami will be visiting Melbourne Temple from December 18th to December 25th. While His Holiness is in Melbourne there will be daily morning Srimad-Bhagavatam classes at Melbourne temple and Hari Nama Kirtana on the streets of Melbourne. There will also be a not-to-be-missed spiritual carnival held on the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd of December at the Melbourne Town Hall. The production of "Le Carnaval Spirituel" is a joyous, colourful and intriguing tapestry of theatre, dance, music and song, yoga, martial arts and meditation which brings forth the timeless spiritual wisdom of ancient India's Vedic culture. Tickets are reasonably priced and available through Melbourne Temple or Ticketek. A lot of time, energy and expense has been put into this festival, please take full advantage of this rare event. I just received news from Bhanu Swami that he will be in Melbourne for a few days next week. He will arrive on either the 17th or the 18th of October. Ramai Swami has just written informing he will be arriving in Melbourne on the eighth of November to stay for a week. Jayapataka Swami arrives this morning to leave on Monday morning. Bhakti Visrambha Madhava Swami is also visiting in July; from the sixth till the eleventh. Devamrta Swami returns on the 14th till the 23rd of July. I've heard that the annual retreat led by Bhurijana Prabhu and Mother Jagattarini is completely booked out without any advertising. They will be here on the evening of the 26th of April but will go straight to Winchelsea to prepare the next day for the beginning of the retreat which starts on the 27th evening at New Nandagram. They will be staying in Melbourne till the 15th of May. There are home programs being arranged on the two extra weekends but details are yet to be finalised. Stay tuned for more information. As soon as Bhakti Caru Swami leaves for Sydney on the 18th Ramai Swami arrives in the evening. I don't know how long he will be with us but it should be for the better part of the week so I anticipate he'll be here till around about the 25th of April. He'll give morning Srimad Bhagavatam classes and programs yet to be arranged. Once details are in I'll endeavour to post them here. Bhakti Caru Swami arrives on Saturday 14th morning direct from LA. That's a fifteen and a half hour flight. He will speak at the Saturday evening student's program arranged by Nityananda Priya and a house program at Bishwajit Rath's on Sunday afternoon. We expect he will also give the Sunday Feast class and morning Bhagavatam classes whilst here. He departs on Wednesday. Bhanu Swami arrived yesterday and will be in Melbourne till the eighth. Kurma Prabhu and Srutakirti Prabhu arrived today. Srutakirti will be giving classes on his pastimes with Srila Prabhupada for the next three days. He will also be signing copies of his new book What is the Difficulty. Here's a bit of a description of the book from the Krishna.com site. This entertaining and inspiring book offers a window into Srila Prabhupada's personality, his intimate thoughts and actions, his concern for every living entity, and some of his likes and his dislikes. Srutakirti's memories during his time as Srila Prabhupada's longest-standing personal servant reveal Srila Prabhupada's caring and loving nature for all future generations to appreciate. Sankarsana Prabhu arrives in Melbourne this evening. He'll be here till Tuesday. He's giving class this evening the Sunday Feast lecture and will be giving morning Bhagavatam classes as well. Here's our current list of summer visitors. These aren't in any particular order other than as I thought of them. Some of these dates may be subject to change so there may be some discrepancies creep in. I'll try to notify you of any last minute adjustments. Devamrta Swami

Ramai Swami leaves Melbourne tomorrow morning after almost a fortnight's stay. Devamrta Swami arrived in Melbourne on Friday night and spent the weekend at New Nandagram with 120 young spiritual seekers. He will be with us till the seventh. Bhanu Swami arrives on Monday evening and should be with us for at least a week, if not slightly longer. We have quite a line up of visitors over the next two months. My aim is to have a list prepared and posted this week. As you can see I have arrived back in Melbourne and should get the news posts flowing again. Travel, sadhana and engagements in India kept me extremely busy so a few things had to give. One of them was my regular blogging. I should be able to get back into the swing of things now I have my feet back on the ground. Vedavyasa-priya Maharaja arrives in Melbourne today for a week long visit. He'll be giving morning Bhagavatam classes except for Wednesday and one evening class on Wednesday evening at 7.30 pm. On the weekend he will be conducting a workshop in the theatre titled Ideal Grhastha Life. The weekend sessions are Saturday 10.30 am - 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm - 4.30 pm and Sunday 2.00 pm - 4.00 pm. Devamrta Swami has just confirmed his next two visits in July. He'll be in Melbourne from the sixth till the tenth and the 22nd till the 27th. There are a couple of retreats lined up for the weekends in those dates as well. His Holiness Prabhavisnu Swami arrives tomorrow for a five day visit. He'll be giving classes in the morning and I suspect leading the odd lively kirtana or two after greeting the Deities. We'll be preparing for our national annual general meeting which is to be held at Otford later this month. I'll be driving up to Sydney on Sunday week for the occasion. Janananda Prabhu also rang yesterday to arrange a short visit at the end of May. He arrives on the 26th and will leave on the 30th. We’ve got an action packed few weeks coming up. Next weekend we’ve got the Bhakti Vrksa training workshops with Prema Padmini. I’ll have details of sessions up on these pages within the next couple of days. The weekend after 24th - 26th, Devamrta Swami will be in town giving a seminar at the temple; Seeing Krsna — From Neophyte to Premi. It looks like it will be well attended. Prasadam will be served for everyone. If you’d like to sponsor the prasadam for any of the sessions please contact Nityananda Priya 04 3394 3331or Krsna Katha 04 0245 6176. Jayapataka Swami has confirmed his arrival on Christmas Day this year for participation in Snana Yatra on Boxing Day. I don’t have his arrival details as yet but he left me a Skype voice mail telling me he is definitely going to be here. Bhanu Swami is planning a visit to Melbourne from the 23rd or 24th evening this month. I’ll confirm details later on these pages. The wonders of Skype. I just finished a chat with Jayapataka Swami who is currently somewhere in South America. He’s planning a short trip to Australia on his way back to India. It looks like he’ll be here around the weekend of the 25th and 26th or a few days after that. He’ll have his secretary confirm the details once they are firm. I just had a short chat with Devamrta Swami. He’ll be arriving here on the morning of the 28th July. We’re holding a retreat at New Nandagram on the weekend of the 30th - 31st which he’ll be attending. He leaves on the first of August. We are going to the Zoo on Saturday. All are welcome to this trip so long as you don't have some service already scheduled for Saturday. HH Devamrita Swami will be giving commentary and a lecture. Location: Melbourne Zoo, minutes from city within Royal Park. The back entrance of the Zoo can be reached by Tram 55 & Trains stopping at Royal Park Station, main entrance by Tram 68. Assembly Date & Time : 10.30 am Saturday 29th January @ Main Entrance to the ZOO (near Royal Parade). Entrance Fee $20.00 per head. Please inform us not later than Friday 10.00 am about the number of visitors at the following contacts as it will give us an estimate of prasadam to be cooked. Ranganathan : 0419 559 605 If devotees would like to cook items prepare enough for all guests. (Total number of visitors expected 50.) We've got a hectic week ahead of us at the temple. Prabhavisnu Swami leaves tomorrow. Bhakti Visrambha Madhava Maharaja arrives on Tuesday and Devamrta Swami is here on Wednesday.
The Port Phillip Tsunami interfaith service will be held on Wednesday. The week finishes with the Big Day Out and a wedding on Sunday preceded by a catering job on Saturday. Give me a yell if you've got nothing to do and some time to kill. Prahladananda Swami arrived yesterday and will be here for a week. He's giving morning classes and will be attending the Ratha-yatra celebrations on Saturday. I spoke briefly with Kadamba Kanana Swami this morning. He's planning a short visit to Melbourne arriving on Saturday or Sunday. I'll post his arrival details later once I have them confirmed. I've just received confirmation that Jayapataka Swami will be arriving in Melbourne on Friday morning as opposed to Saturday which was our previous plan. He's planning a short hop to Auckland on his way to Brisbane so he will leave on the 27th instead of the 28th. Indradyumna Swami left this morning; early this morning. I told him he would be sitting at the airport twiddling his thumbs and that's what happened. He called to thank us for looking after him so nicely and he hopes to return soon. He mentioned how much things had changed and he was impressed by the devotees' mood.
As always we were inspired by his classes and kirtanas. Jayapataka Swami is arriving on Saturday. I don't have any confirmed details as yet. He's planning to stay for three days and then head to New Govardhana for the festival there on the 28th. Indradyumna Swami arrives early Sunday morning. We'll be having a midday program at Bhakta's house in Rowville and he'll be back in time for the Sunday Feast program at the temple. Maharaja also has some DVD's of this year's Polish Tour and Woodstock festival which we will screen in the theatre after the 7.00 pm arati. I've suggested to Maharaja that we stick to a simple morning and evening program. That way most devotees can attend a class in the evening at the temple.
We might do a couple of downtown lunchtime hari-nama's depending on how many we can arrange to attend. If there are any householders on holidays next week who can participate then please let me know so we can make a decision whether to go or not. I just received an email from Jayapataka Swami. He is transitting Sydney this morning and may spend a few hours in Melbourne on his way to Perth. Nothing is confirmed at this stage. (That's at 6.30 this morning.) While the router is working, I don't know for how long it will stay up, I might as well let you all know that we've got a couple of visitors arriving over the next week. Kadamba Kanana Swami arrives on Sunday and stays till Wednesday. Bhakti Visrambha Madhava Maharaja is currently at New Govardhana and arrives on Tuesday. He will be here for ten days which includes Radhastami. |
