Last weekend Kadamba Kanana Maharaja led a group of forty devotees in a retreat at New Nandagram farm. The theme was ‘Who am I in Krsna consciousness?’ Maharaja applied our acaryas’ realisations of sambandha (relationship), abhidheya (activity) and prayojana (goal) to life as we find it today in ISKCON, warts and all!

Participants came from both congregational and temple ashramas, family and single situations. Everyone was encouraged to add his or her own realisations and qualities to the group's celebration of devotional life. Our conclusion was that with the help of Lord Caitanya, everything may become possible: 'Things that are very difficult to do become easy to execute if one somehow or other simply remembers Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. But if one does not remember Him, even easy things become very difficult...' (Sri Caitanya-caritamrta Adi 14.1)

Highlights included melodious kirtans, lively dancing, impromptu plays, Gaura-Nitai’s forest parikram, practical classes, hilarious jokes and delicious prasadam.

Maharaja would like to lead another retreat when he returns to Melbourne Yatra. He leaves for a preaching tour of South Africa this afternoon (Mar. 4).

New Nandagram Farm Retreat: Fri. Feb 29 - Sun. March 2

Hare Krsna.

Srila Rupa Gosvami glorifies the purifying power of the River in his Yamunastakam:

"May Sri Yamuna, who is the daughter of Suryadeva, who is the famous, splendid, spiritual river flowing through the Bhur, Bhuva, and Sva planets, who burns away the greatest sins, and who is fragrant with scented ointments from Lord Krsna's transcendental body, always purify me.

May Sri Yamuna, who is the daughter of Suryadeva, a drop of whose water destroys the sinful reactions of the people, who creates a great flood of confidential pure devotional service to Lord Nandananadana, and who brings auspiciousness to they who desire to live on her shore, always purify me."

Indeed the Bhagavatam states that the mere sight of the Yamuna River filled Krsna and Balarama with great happiness:

"O King Pariksit, when Rama and Krsna saw Vrndavana, Govardhana, and the banks of the river Yamuna, They both enjoyed great pleasure."

Who then would not worship with great joy and hope such an appropriate object of devotion as the Yamuna River!
