The Temple 'boys' are busy cleaning Krishna's Temple today and tomorrow in preparation of His upcoming birthday next Thursday. Indeed, Prabhu Dasa, Michael, Jaspal, Kanapathy, Ravi and 2 more Prabhus are at the task; they are having a lot of fun from what it seems!
Yesterday we had a most enjoyable Balarama Purnima. Despite the rain and the cold wind, many gathered at the temple to celebrate the appearance day of Lord Balarama, the first expansion of Lord Krishna.
The kirtan lead and class given by our Temple President, Aniruddha Prabhu, were already a good introduction to the nectar that was awaiting those present. Many will agree that yesterday's feast was one of the best the temple has ever experienced; Balarama's 'varuni' juice was particularly divine this time.
The night beautifully concluded with Jhulan Yatra, Radha Govinda's swing festival, enhanced by heartfelt kirtans lead by various talented kirtaniyas.
If you missed the Big Brother's birthday, don't miss Krishna's which will be celebrated on Thursday 2nd September!
Here's a slideshow of the past days' festivities.
Srimad Bhagavatam 11.23.23 - Use of something for sense gratification is called material property.
Tuesday 24th August, 2010.
Lord Sri Balarama's Appearance Day
Caitanya Caritamrita Madhya-lila 20.256 - In time we must accept a spiritual master to receive the mercy of Lord Balarama, the original spiritual master.
We have a most enlightened guest in Melbourne at the moment: Dina Sarana Mataji. She is Srila Prabhupada's disciple and has been in Krishna Consciousness for nearly 40 years. Dina Sarana Dasi is the GBC representative for Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland and is based in Germany.
Her current main service is to help the German yatra to get back on its feet. Her future plans are to visit yatras on invitation even though she is already well engaged with her GBC duties.
Dina Sarana Mataji will be conducting a 2-day seminar entitled 'Women in Krishna Consciousness'; Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 1pm. She will also have a seminar on 'Grihastha life' with our congregational members on Friday from 6.30 to 8pm.
Please take this golden opportunity to associate with such an experienced Vaisnavi and attend the seminars that will be held in the Theatre Room.
